  • 996 players and clubs staff of the English Premier League (EPL) were corona tested
  • Earlier in the 748 Corona Test held on 17 and 18 May, 6 people from 3 clubs were found positive.

The English Premier League (EPL) has said that two more of its players have been found infected with coronaviruses. So far 8 people from different clubs of the league have turned out to be corona test positive. All have been quarantined. This is a big setback for the league, as the EPL continues to make its best efforts to start this season next month.

A corona test of 996 EPL players and staff of clubs has been done in the last three weeks. Earlier in the 748 Corona Test held on 17 and 18 May, 6 people from 3 clubs were found positive.

Infected players will place themselves in quarantine

EPL said, “Two people from two clubs have come positive in the recently concluded Corona Test. Players or staff who have been found positive will keep themselves in quarantine for 7 days. No player has given information about which players, officials or staff are infected. ”

EPL season can start from 12 or 19 June

EPL CEO Richard Masters said on Friday, “This season of EPL is expected to resume from June 12 or 19. At the moment, all club players are training in small groups. During this time social care is also being taken care of. There are 92 matches left of this season. ”

Former Pakistan cricketer Taufik Corona infected

Former Pakistan batsman Taufiq Umar has been found infected with Corona. He quarantined himself after showing signs of the disease. Prior to Taufiq, Majid Haque of Scotland, Zafar Sarfaraz of Pakistan, and Solo Encueni of South Africa have also been infected with Corona. Taufiq has played 44 Tests and 22 ODIs for Pakistan. He last played in 2014.

Taufiq said, “I got corona test due to ill health and the result came positive. Although my symptoms are not so severe. I have isolated myself at home as a precautionary measure. I appeal to all people to wish me well soon. ”
