WWE Friday Night SmackDown # 1088 Results & Report from Orlando, Florida, USA from June 26th, 2020

WWE Friday Night SmackDown # 1088
Venue: WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, USA
US first broadcast: June 26 2020

The show begins with a short clip made up of the undertaker’s career. There are also recordings from the Undertaker documentary “The Last Ride” as well as own photos.

The show opens with “Thank You Taker” calls, carried out by some current superstars of the SmackDown squad (faces and heels). Today’s issue will be about the “legacy” of the undertaker. Corey Graves and Michael Cole also go back to the undertaker’s career. First, a review of November 22, 1990 is shown. It was on this day that the WWE universe saw the Undertaker for the first time at the Survivor Series. The last chapter of the undertaker, his win in the boneyard match against AJ Styles at this year’s WrestleMania, will be shown today, next! If you want to review the course of this match again, here is the report from Wrestlemania 36 – Day 1. Before the match starts, however, John Cena or Roman Reigns have their say in recorded videos, which the Undertaker in the highest Advertise sounds. Now the repetition of the WrestleMania match can finally begin. The match is interrupted (in addition to commercial breaks) by other, all praising voices for Undertaker, this time it is comments from Edge, Christian, Bret “Hitman” Hart, Ric Flair and of course his “brother” Kane. Overall, Graves and Cole mentioned several times that the boneyard match was the final match of the undertaker.

Afterwards we see “King” Corbin in the ring and he tells us that the name of the Boneyard Match was named after the Undertaker – because this too is just a bunch of bones. He continues to move on to Undertaker afterwards and says that he founded the “Kiss the McMahon Butt” club. The Undertaker was a selfish son of a whore, because he had kept young, up-and-coming talents like Corbin down for years and stole a lot of money from the WWE. His last thought about Undertaker: “You suck!” Jeff Hardy has heard enough and gives Corbin a rubdown.

Kurt Angle and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin also give their very positive opinion about the Undertaker.

Jeff Hardy is now asked about his actions before advertising. He says that the Undertaker was a mentor for him and therefore he had to stand up for the Undertaker, who cannot be there today. And today he challenges Corbin to a match with his diploma from “Deadman University”.

Sasha Banks and Bayley go to the commentator table before the upcoming match starts:

Corbin is interviewed backstage about Jeff Hardy’s words that he would see Undertaker as a mentor. Corbin is amused and wonders what is going on in another withdrawal? But he would make sure today that the Undertaker would be a role model for Hardy. Because after
Hardy will also give up his shoes on their match: “Rest in peace!”

A look back at the meeting between Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman last week is shown. The latter now goes into the ring with a smile on his lips. He immediately grabs a microphone. When he met Wyatt, he felt fear for the first time in his life. The fear that gives you a strange feeling in your stomach that causes the hair on the back of the neck to rise. Strowman tells of an event when he and Wyatt were sitting on a body of water when a large snake crawled on Wyatt’s lantern. Strowman tried to crush the snake, but Wyatt stopped him because the snake was a friend. He went to the snake at eye level and she repeatedly bit his face. But instead of bleeding or being poisoned, Wyatt just laughed. And then it became clear to Braun that Wyatt was pure evil, the devil himself. Then Strowman started doing the devil’s job. A part of him enjoyed that. And this part keeps calling for him – and he can’t go on like this. That’s why he wants to go back to Bray’s home with Bray, because there are only two ways the whole thing can end here: Either he comes back as the worst guy in the world or happy to have destroyed the devil. He wants to destroy the place Wyatt created. The segment ends with the sudden, mad laugh of Wyatt and Strowman, who gets in and laughs just as madly.

It’s Batista and Mick Foley’s turn to talk about the Undertaker.

3rd match | WWE Friday Night SmackDown # 1088 June 26 2020
Singles match
Jeff Hardy won against “King” Corbin via pin after the Swanton Bomb.
Match time: 12:06
– Meanwhile, Corbin shows poses of the undertaker.
– After the advertisement, large sections of the SmackDown squad stood around the ring to support Hardy against the disrespectful Corbin, who dares to discredit the Undertaker.

Corbin attacks Hardy after the match, he can also knock Kingston down, but then collects Big E’s big ending. Strowman does not get asked twice and misses Corbin his powerslam. Matt Riddle complements the Floating Bro before the big party rises in the ring. The Undertaker is shown again on the Titantron and with these pictures the today’s “Legacy of the Undertaker” episode of SmackDown ends.

Jeff Hardy has renewed his WWE contract!

Jeff Hardy has renewed his WWE contract!

– There won’t be a reunion of the Hardys in the next few years, because Jeff Hardy has extended his WWE contract! What the reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy already hinted at in an interview with BT Sport recently has now been confirmed by Dave Meltzer. Jeff and his brother Matt had both signed 3-year contracts in 2017, but Jeff’s contract was unilaterally extended by WWE because the 43-year-old had been sidelined for a long time due to injuries and personal problems. While Matt left the market leader after the contract ended and signed with All Elite Wrestling, Jeff was bound even longer. But now he has signed a new contract that ties him to WWE for either 3 years or even 5 years.

– Meanwhile, WrestleVotes reports that another WWE Superstar recently decided not to renew his contract but to leave the company after his current contract ends. No information was given about who it was.

– For the past two weeks, Friday Night SmackDown has been broadcasting videos announcing the arrival of a blonde female wrestler. Meanwhile it is becoming apparent that this is Carmella, who will return to the shows with a new gimmick. The 32-year-old has not been part of the WWE shows since May, although it is unknown why she was absent. She played her last match on May 10 at the “Money in the Bank” PPV.

– Ivar is undergoing neck surgery this Monday in Birmingham, Alabama. It is still unclear which injury the Viking Raider sustained, but he is threatened with a break of at least a year. Todd Smith, his real name, had previously struggled with neck problems, which were exacerbated by the unsuccessful dive last week. The injury could also be very bad news for his tag team partner Erik. Injury to a tag team wrestler at WWE very often means that his partner also wastes the shows. Erik’s defeat to Lashley yesterday in just 2 minutes should not be a good sign for the 36-year-old.

– Dominik Mysterio made it to the top of WWE within a few weeks. As the PWInsider reports, the WWE officials already count the 23-year-old among the top 3 or top 4 baby faces in the RAW roster. Rey Mysterio’s son has more than just convinced the WWE officials since his first match at the “WWE SummerSlam” and there is currently no end in sight to his push.
